Printify is a startup based in Riga Lativia, with around 50,000 e-commerce stores using its services to print on demand.
The startup has raised $1 million in seed funding. The seed funding round was led by Google adsense pioneer Gokul Rajaram. The company currently is focused in expanding its market in the states and build it team bigger in Lativia.
Lumi is a company which handles packaging for consumer facing startup. Printify in partnership with Lumi is trying to become a brand as seemless as possible by removing vendor legwork from the process itself. The company keeps its customers billing information on file and links with the back end ordering system of almost any e-commerce platform.
Printify gets an API notification to work on a product whenever it receives an order. The company then sends the print ready files to an on demand manufacturer. Generally these manufacturers can print a design and ship the product within 24 hours.
James Berdigans, the founder of Printify earlier started a business making accessories for Apple and it then when he got the idea to start printify.
“We wanted to print custom phone cases and we thought we’d find an on-demand manufacturer and it would be easy,” says James. Initially Printify integrated with Shopify and saw some traction in November 2015. At the time, quality was one of the major concerns of the company since it did not had its own manufacturing.
In 2016, Berdigans pivoted to the marketplace model because he saw demand coming from a growing number of small business owners like himself that needed access to a selection of good quality printing houses.
Artis Kehris, the co-founder of Printify says,
“In just two years, Printify has become profitable and is growing at a rapid pace. With this
investment, we plan to double our Riga team in 2018. That will create at least 30 new jobs,
most of which will be in programming, design, and customer support.”
